• Behind the Scenes this Summer at Spruce

It's been an amazing and incredibly busy summer at Spruce and we thought it was high time to let you have a little sneak peek behind the scenes! We're coming up to our one-year anniversary (big party plans + an exciting announcement to follow shortly!) and we've already grown faster than we ever imagined. Not sure if you know it but the five of us Spruce Girls (click here to "meet" us), took the very serendipitous leap into partnership as mere acquaintances last summer and I think we all feel pretty proud to say that our friendships have grown and deepened throughout this very life-changing time. Being a business owner is quite the labour of love and ours has become a family affair, in every sense of the word! Between us we're juggling husbands, children (a total of 10 between the ages of infant to 23, with one on the way!), dogs, homes and life in general. We definitely don't claim to have the winning formula but we're doing our best and having plenty of fun along the way. Here's a little look at our summer so far... Spruce Collective Our Workshop has become our working hub and you'll see everything from vintage finds, DIY projects and new stock to babies playing, children napping and emergency haircuts if you happen to peer through the doors. Breanne (top left) is Elisa's eldest daughter and we were thrilled when she agreed to join us as our store manager earlier this Spring. She's teaching the younger ones the ropes too...planning for the future ;)

Spruce CollectiveLeft to right: Breanne with Lily's daughter Sadie. Jessica's baby boy, Elliot. Sleeping Ellis' and Lily's daughter Lilah.

Spruce Collective Our kiddos are no strangers to thrift shops, not to mention junk barns, garage sales and antique malls! It takes a village people, and  there is no stairway to steep or vintage aisle too narrow for us to manoeuvre. Wait a minute...is that mama nursing while antiquing? But of course, all in a day's work! Spruce Collective

Spruce CollectiveJessica's son Elliot gets the award for baby of the year! He's a trooper :)

Spruce CollectiveKevi's daughter Wren is always on the move and she's got another little one on the way, due early next year.

Spruce CollectiveSourcing local products, family boat trips, meeting new garage sale friends...there's always an adventure to be found!

IMG_3352 As you can see, it's been quite the summer and we couldn't do it without the help of our supportive husbands and families not to mention our amazing sales staff, loyal customers and the odd babysitter or two. We've got so many exciting things planned for the Fall and we cannot wait to share them with you...stay tuned! We're adding new products and vintage treasures to our shelves almost daily so be sure to come see what's new in store. See you soon! ~the Spruce Girls

Thanks Colleen! And no, we don’t see an antique mall in our future :) But we do have a big announcement that we think you’ll be pretty excited about!
